History
LCD (formerly Link Africa) was founded in 1989, having emerged through the
spontaneous activities of Cambridge University students in support of Black
education in South Africa. We established a separate South African partner
organisation in 1995, a Ghanaian partner in 1999, Ugandan partner in
2000, a Malawian, Scottish and Irish partner in 2006. We have over a decade of experience in implementing district education
development projects. LCD is now probably the leading specialist NGO in
district to school interventions.

The LCD Group consists of seven organisations (each an independent legal

deliver projects based in Africa and Ireland & the UK. The Group is led by the CEO, who
is supported by the Group Finance Director, International Programme Director
and International Programme Officers. Programme Directors in each of the
partner organisations report to the CEO, who reports to the UK Board of
Trustees. Additionally there is a Ghanaian Board to whom LCD Ghana is
