Will you JOIN UP! in 2007?Global Campaign for Education Link Community Development is joining up to the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) to help get more children around the world into school. There are still 80 million children who are missing out on an education, including in the areas where LCD is working. This year’s campaign calls for teachers and students to support the Send my Friend to School campaign to get every child into school. To do this we are encouraging schools to JOIN UP! and show support by making the world’s longest chain. We will be giving support to all our LSP schools in order to make our contribution count. Our schools in the South will be carrying out surveys in April to explore reasons why so many children are still not going to school. These will then be shared with their partner schools in the UK and Ireland. Over the last two years, thousands of schools and millions of pupils have taken part in the Send My Friend campaign and because of what you’ve done some governments, including the UK, are doing more. And that’s why we need you to JOIN UP! in the world’s longest chain. Why take part?Taking part in JOIN UP – send my friend to school! is a great way to introduce global issues into your classroom. It would make an ideal active citizenship project, or whole school activity. The JOIN UP! website will include free downloadable lesson plans, suitable for many subject areas, including: PSHE, Citizenship, English and Geography. The lessons can be used as a series, or you can mix and match them to suit your class and time frame. JOIN UP!The JOIN UP! website includes:
