Easter Term 2008
|
In March schools in Ghana, South Africa and Uganda exchanged postcards
around the theme of sustainability with their partner schools in England
and Wales. View the report to see some examples and read some of the
messages that students have send to their counterparts about how we can
work together to look after local resources and the environment. |

Summer Term 2008

The LSP theme for the summer term gives schools an opportunity to engage with the issue on a local and a global level and to share work and experiences with their partner school. Global Teachers - post placement training |

LCD is bringing together the Irish Global Teachers for a post-placement training weekend in All Hallows College, Drumcondra, Dublin from the 21st- 23rd September 2007. |

LCD has worked together with Africa Revival, the Big Wheel Theatre Company and Hampstead School to put on an event about 'Creative Approaches to School Partnerships' on the 23rd November 07. Click here to view the conference report. |

Link Community Development joined up to the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) to help get more children around the world into school.
There are still 80 million children who are missing out on an education, including in the areas where LCD is working. Click here for more information about this years campaign. |

LCD brought together staff from some of the 100 schools in the Midlands and northern regions of England currently linked to schools through LCD. Participants had the opportunity to hear from a number of specialist speakers as well as teachers with extensive experience of school partnerships.

LCD ran a one-day conference on Monday 5th March 2007: Uganda – UK: Partnerships in Practice. The conference took place at Whitefriars First and Middle School in Harrow, London. Click here for more information.

December 2006 |
LCD and the Commonwealth Consortium for Education held a conference in
Cape Town, South Africa on 8th and 9th December, immediately preceding the
Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers (CCEM). The Commonwealth-wide
working conference will sought to review the various models of school and college
partnerships available, assess both the actual and potential impact of
partnerships on all those involved and inform the current international debate
on school linking.

June 2006 |
This year is the 30th anniversary of the Soweto Uprising in South Africa,
when schoolchildren led the fight for freedom and justice. LCD has produced a
Teachers Pack so schools can mark this event. The BBC is running a series of
programmes to commemorate the day called 'School Day South Africa'. |

Every year, on and around World AIDS Day (1 December), 15 million
children around the world take part in a 'Lesson for Life'. |

November 2004 |
The most recent LCD Oware Championships took place on 17th November 2004
at London Zoo. Oware is an ancient African game of skill and strategy. You can
download rules for how to play Oware, instructions for making Oware boards, for
organising tournaments and register for the next LCD Oware
Championships. |
